    There are three main programmes making up the 'Virtual Bar Coach' suite (More are being added). The Product Coach Course, the Licence Controller Course, and the Alcohol Server Course.

    About the Product Coach Course

    The Product Coach Course is designed to provide existing and potential staff with a thorough knowledge of the history, heritage and production of spirits, fortified wines, bitters, liqueurs and RTDs.

    The course includes a comprehensive module on host responsibility – which is vital for those premises wanting effective licence controller training.

    The Product Coach Course will equip all those that sell or serve alcoholic beverages to effectively present each product in its best light.

    Those who complete the programme will be able to:

    The main features of this course are:

    • Quantity of modules: 18 Modules
    • Who is it for: Ideal for those that sell or serve alcohol. Ideal for both 'on' and 'off' licence situations.
    • Module Topics: Vodka, Tequila, Rum, Bitters, Bourbon, Gin, Scotch, Madeira, port, Sherry, Brandy, Liqueurs, Marsala, Cocktails, Muscat, Vermouth and Wine History, RTDs, Host Responsibility
    • Countries visited: Mexico, Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados, Trinidad, America, Scotland, Ireland, Madeira, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Sicily, Australia, New Zealand
    • Learning Resources: Video, Audio, Text, website links (some modules have up to 20 module specific web links), Interactive components (there are several highly visual and highly interactive learning utilities).
    • Other Resources: A Learning Plan is provided for users to plan their learning. There are links to email a coach, links to a forum and even contact numbers for phone assistance if required.
    • Delivery Style: Modules are presented in an informal 'intrepid journies' style - making them both easy and interesting to watch. This style has proven highly popular with the learning styles of the target group.
    • How long are the modules: Modules range from approximately 9 minutes to 30 minutes in length. The average length of all modules is 19 minutes each.

    Formal Assessment:

    • You will need to select an approved LCQ training provider in order to do the formal assessment for this programme.

    Unit Standards:

    This course covers at least one main NZQA unit standard, although there are several other unit standards which are partially covered by the content in this course.

    • Unit 17549: 'Demonstrate knowledge of host responsibility requirements as a duty manager of licensed premises'

    Computer:

    What you do and dont need to do this course.

    • You will require a set of headphones (these can be obtained for approximately $10-25 from most appliance stores).
    • An internet connection is not required.
    • High-speed broadband is not required.
    • Computer Platform: Windows 98SE and higher.
    • Computer Specification: Recommended minimum: 500 Mb RAM, 3-5 Gb available hard drive space (for storing modules), 1.5 Ghz+ processor.

    Licence Policy:

    There are two products included in the Product Coach Course (Virtual Coach Player and the Product Coach Course modules).

    • Each person will require a single user licence for the course and a single Virtual Coach licence (both of these are included in the course fee).

    How the Product Coach Course works?

    Here's what to do...

    • Learn all about the course here on the website.
    • Decide which training provider you would like to use. Feel free to call them and ask them any additional questions you might have. Click on the preferred provider in the list above.
    • Count up how many computers you would like to install the Product Coach Course on - you will need one licence for each computer.
    • Leave the 'Virtual Coach Player' free licence checked, this is required to view the modules. The course comes with a 12 month licence. If you would like to upgrade to the 4 year licence please tick the appropriate check box.
    • In order to get NZQA recognition you will need to go through a formal assessment process. The assessment is delivered and priced separately, you should ensure that you place a tick next to the option for assessment - someone will contact you to arrange this.
    • When you are ready click the 'Buy' button. This will take you to a screen to register as a customer of The Training Market.com. Once registered you will be taken through the checkout process.
    • There are several purchase options. As well as the online option there is a 'cheque' option. If you select the 'Cheque' option, you will be sent an invoice (via email) that you can print and then pay through your normal finance system as you do any other invoice. You can also pay via bank transfer or credit card (these methods are quickest).
    • Once payment has been approved, you will be sent the course materials. Comprehensive instrucitons will be sent to guide you through the installation process.
